All baskets are woven on a left/right grid. Only master weaver can transform that strict construction in the lyric swirls of our Savona baskets. Thickly strands of twisted banana bark give these baskets structural integrity. A natural bleaching process reveals the uniform golden tone of the banana twine. These are containers worthy of a museum display, but they are still practical containers for kindling, textiles, books, toys and plants. We go off the grid to create the counter punctual pattern in these sturdy wire framed baskets that fold flat when not in use. We double weave or over weave the seagrass twine create this intricate pattern.
